![]() We aim to be a friendly church, where newcomers - children and adults alike - are made welcome. We hope there's something for everyone (so there's a mix of old and new), as we seek to worship and grow in discipleship.
If you've moved into the area, or you're visiting, or you've lived here all your life - if you used to come or you've never been, come along and we'd love to meet you. We're located on the south bank of the Tweed in Berwick, just over the old bridge next to the docks. Our vision is Up, In, Around, Out: to Look up to God in Worship, Inwards in Discipleship, Around in community and Out in mission. Our worship style is low-church and relaxed. We use Mission Praise which has a mix of modern songs and traditional hymns. We believe God speaks to us through the bible, and sermons reflect that. The present church building dates from 1783, but it is thought that this has been a Christian place of worship since the 7th Century (making this the place the oldest place of worship in Berwick). Today we continue to serve God here and want to pass on the good news of Jesus, so that people from this and the next generation may know his love and follow him with their lives. You are welcome to come in and worship with us at 10am on Sundays. We have a Family Service on the 1st Sunday of each month and Holy Communion on the other Sundays Children are welcome at all our services, and there is Junior Church (see Children & Youth) on the middle Sundays, that they can join in with if they would like. We've recently started a new modern evening service, with a block of modern worship songs and a more in-depth sermon. It's on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 6pm: see Modern Evening Service for more details.
We also have the old 1662 prayerbook Evening Prayer service at 6pm on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. This uses the old language which many older people grew up with and still enjoy. And, every Wednesday at 10am you are welcome to join us for a short, said service of Holy Communion, with coffee afterwards.
As for parish life, we have homegroups and prayer groups (see Discipleship), we run Alpha courses (see Christian Basics), and we have monthly coffee mornings (on the 1st Saturday of the month in the Church hall 10-11.30 - to which everyone is welcome). If you are visiting, Tweedmouth Parish Church is along from the docks, behind the Rob Roy pub (look up to see the Salmon weather-vane!. We're about half a mile from Berwick upon Tweed town centre. Please see the map for our location. If you live in Prior Park, the West End, St Boisil's, Hiveacers or Goldstone estates, East Ord or the other side of the A1. as far as Longridge, then this is your local parish church. |
